Children of Gomorrah (Martin O’Brien)
I don’t mean to point a finger at you.
It’s just that you came up in my Catholic poetry biblical queue.
What you do is up to you.
For this is just poetry practice.
Just want to see what this doggerel will look like
When it is through.
First things first,
You are so sure of yourselves.
100 per cent sure.
That’s amazing to me.
Come on you mean to tell me you never have a doubt?
As I said.
I don’t mean to bother or antagonize you.
If you were trying to intimidate me into silence,
You succeeded very well.
I’ll be quiet now and leave your presence.
And shake your town’s dust from my sandals.
